Stocky shuts down 31 August. Native purchase orders only cover half of it.

Shopify retires Stocky on 31 August 2026. It was delisted from the App Store on 2 February 2026, and inventory transfers and min/max forecasting went away back in July 2025.

Shopify’s own purchase orders are in the admin now, and they are free. If raising a PO was all you did in Stocky, use those — you do not need this app, and it would be strange of us to pretend otherwise.

What the free version does not do

The three things Stocky users bring up most in the shutdown threads are three things native purchase orders leave out:

• Knowing what to reorder. Native POs have no reorder logic at all. Stockroom lets you set a threshold per product and gives you a plain list of what has fallen under it and how much to order. A threshold you set — not a forecast, not a demand model, not a seasonality curve.
• Receiving the stock when it lands. Scan items in against the order with a barcode scanner. Every receipt writes straight to available inventory at the location you picked, and the order shows what is still outstanding.
• Printing the labels. Stocky printed barcode labels straight off a received order, and it is the gap merchants mention most about the replacements. Stockroom prints them — Code 128 off the quantities you received, onto label sheets or a roll printer, retail price on the label if you want it there.

Why not one of the inventory suites

You may have already been pointed at the larger inventory and forecasting platforms. They are good software. They are also a considerably bigger purchase, and a common reaction in the shutdown threads is that a full suite is overkill for a shop that just wants to reorder on time and receive without a clipboard.

Stockroom is purchase orders, receiving, reorder points, and label printing. $49 a month, 14-day free trial. There is no forecasting module and there is not going to be one. If you need demand planning, buy a demand planner.

Export your Stocky data before 31 August

Do this now regardless of where you land — once Stocky is switched off the data is gone:

• Export every report type to CSV, including purchase order history.
• Export your stocktake records.
• Copy your supplier details out by hand. Stocky has no supplier export, so names, contacts, and terms have to be recorded manually. This is the one that catches people out.
